昼想夜夢 (Chusoyamu) is a Japanese proverb that expresses the idea that what is thought and felt during the day is what is dreamt at night, thereby establishing a connection between the waking state and the sleeping state. If we consider this relationship as bidirectional, then how we sleep and what we dream also influence how our day unfolds the following morning.
The textile artist's book was inspired by this proverb. In it, all the hours I spent awake and asleep during February 2024 were recorded and embroidered into a visual diary. A dark thread was bleached into various earthy and reddish tones to distinguish between the hours of sleep (dark color) and wakefulness (earthy and reddish tones).
This piece was presented at the artist book exhibition "Las Horas" (The Hours) at the Centro Cultural Giralt Laporta in Valdemorillo, Spain, from April 12th to May 11th, 2024.
